Viticulture Advisor is responsible for extending knowledge and information in wine grape production, for engaging in applied research and creative activity, for demonstrating professional competence and activity, and for performing University and Public Service. 

  • Extending Information – Designs, develops, and implements a highly visible county extension education program relating to the needs of local commercial producers of wine grapes, based on assessed needs and responses of clientele.
  • Research – Develops new information by conducting local problem-solving field research with the support of appropriate specialists and grower clientele.  Research results are made available to clientele through appropriate publications, conferences and industry meetings.
  • Professional Development – Develops and carries out an active plan for professional growth including the latest crop production information and research techniques. 

County Director (30% administration assignment) is responsible for administrative management of all UC Cooperative Extension programs in Napa County and is responsible to both UC and Napa County for effective management of the department. Specifically, the County Director:

  • Represents Napa County UCCE to UC ANR Regional Directors and other levels of UC administration, and to the Napa County Board of Supervisors and County Executive Officer. 
  • Provides leadership, managerial oversight, and supervision for UC Cooperative Extension Advisors and support staff in Napa County.
  • Provides UC and county policy interpretations and guidance to Advisors and staff.
  • Negotiates and administers budgets for UC and County support.
