Dr. Myers responsibilities include:

  • Supervise research on plant protection issues of national significance
  • Supervise scientists to implement management programs for invasive pests
  • Oversee pest and disease diagnostic services
  • Determine budgetary needs for the recurrent and capital expenditures for the unit
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports
  • Facilitate personnel training and staff recruitment
  • Act as liaison with other government agencies such as extension and quarantine and non-government groups, such as, IICa, FAO concerning plant protection matters
  • Represent the Ministry of Agriculture on national committees related to plant protection matters
