Rafael Andy Vega
After completing my primary education in Bridgeport CT, I moved to Boston for a discipline in computer engineering at Northeastern University, where I received my Bachelor’s degree, studying Computer Technology. At NU, I was fortunate enough to take advantage of the Coop experience to learn, study and travel. While exploring the vast beauty of the west, I developed an understanding for forestry and horticulture. Upon returning to Boston, I pursued a passion for plant health while working at Zoo New England as a tropical horticulturist and facilitated in exhibit design, landscape maintenance and education for a keeper training program. In the Plant Medicine program, I plan to focus on sustainable agriculture to help alleviate the global food crisis. As a recipient of a USDA National Needs Fellowship with IPM Florida, I will obtain a certificate in Plant Pest Risk Assessment and Management. Whenever there is spare time I enjoy gardening at my community organic plot, walking my Dog Tomato and playing softball.
