Hello! I am from Elk Grove Village, Illinois. I received a B.S. in Biology from Illinois College in 2006. After taking an entomology course my junior year, I thought I might want to pursue a career dealing with insects. After graduating, I worked at Walt Disney World as the entomology intern at the Land greenhouses in Epcot doing IPM work. This experience along with a love of growing plants led me to look for a career combining these two areas. After finishing my internship I moved to East Tennessee. The job prospects there were less then promising, so I started to look into grad school when I came across the DPM program. I decided to apply because of the multidisciplinary approach it provided. I am also working on my certificate in Plant Pest Risk Assessment and Management. In my free time I enjoy wandering through the woods looking for interesting insects, taking care of my large potted garden, taking pictures of nature, causing mischief, and watching as much football and sports in general as I can find.
