Brianne SchobertI was born in Nebraska and moved to Kentucky when I was 1. I started  the University of Kentucky in January 1998 and received my bachelor’s degree in Horticulture Enterprise Management with a Pest Management minor in 2002. I have a passion for plants and love to watch them grow.  Anything that has to do with plants I am interested.

I wanted to make it to the DPM program after I graduated but decided I better get a job to get some experience in the industry first.  I worked for Rayonier  as a Seed Orchard Supervisor.  I was in charge of supplying seed to their nursery that grew 25 million pine tree seedlings a year.  I did grafting, breeding, mass controlled pollinations and the establishment of new orchards of loblolly and slash pine trees.  I finally figured out what I really wanted to do in April 2008. That was to complete the DPM degree and maybe one day work for APHIS or do private consulting.  So, I resigned from my job and started the program in January 2009.

I am interested in the Doctorate of Plant Medicine Program because it is a broadly based program and it teaches you how to diagnose plant problems.  The program teaches you everything you need to know about plants which include problems with diseases, insects, nutrients, climate, and the environment.  I am a more technical and a hands on person so I decided that this was the program for me and here I am.  I am really excited and honored to be a part of this program.
